Don Diston
1966-69
Class of 1970
Don was a four year runners at WHS and a three
year varsity letterman. He spent his freshman season on the undefeated JV squad
and won the JV Sunset League title as a sophomore leading the team to another
undefeated season. As a junior Don ran consistently on the varsity team leading
them to an undefeated league season and another Sunset Title. He finished third
in the league meet. During his senior season, Don led the team to another
Sunset League title, the seventh consecutive, and became the third Lion to win
the league individual title behind Mike Solomon and Neil Sybert. He also led
the Lions to their highest finish in CIF Finals since they won in 1966 with a
fifth place individual finish and a fourth place team finish. Don enlisted in the Army and continued his
running career in Germany. Unfortunately, Don passed away in 2018. He is sorely
missed.
